Voting as a Catholic in 2016

Archbishop Aquila offers guidance to Catholics:

I have voted in every presidential election since 1972 and I have never experienced an election like this year’s. What will it take to have Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen’s message: THE GLORY OF BEING AN AMERICAN out to all of the people?
THE GLORY OF BEING AN AMERICAN by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen in his LIFE IS WORTH LIVING series states that a person is divinely endowed with unalienable human and innate rights by “their Creator”, that the person is irreplaceable and self-determining

Our Parish included in the Sunday Bulletin a pamphlet serving to direct the Catholic voter's conscience. Bishop Aquila is pretty direct on this point. The pamphlet was quite direct as well. Saying that a Catholic cannot vote for a candidate who supports certain positions, among those first and foremost being abortion.
THEN it went on to shades of gray saying that a Catholic cannot support such a candidate if their "intent" is to support that issue.
If they are voting for the candidate for a different reason, such as, "she'd be the first woman president and I really think it is time for that," then they may vote for such a candidate.
I was disgusted and threw the pamphlet in the trash. All I remember of its provenance is that it was endorsed by the USCCB, among others.
And we wonder why people are falling away from the Church.
