Vandals Trash Church, Deface Picture of Pope

Tolerance.

Police are searching for answers after a Brighton church was vandalized by three teenagers. Police say sometime between 3 p.m. on November 23 and 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 25, the teens damaged three doors and broke into Our Lady Of Presentation Church on Washington Street. Residue from two fire extinguishers was found all over the church floors. A portrait of Pope John XXIII was found on the second floor, cut up and defaced with phrases such as “Devil’s Star,” “(Expletive) God” and “Scooby Doo.”

The one hate crime that doesn't seem to be a hoax.

Living in Massachusetts I wasn't shocked by the vandalism in Brighton, young people in the secular world are taught to despise and mock Catholicism.

Their immaturity in their vandalism shows more ignorance then hate. It seemed more out of boredom their destructiveness. But where are they learning such ignorance, to the point they feel nothing destroying an oil painting and and a church organ?

How as a community as a whole, did we fail them?

If that bored do something constructive, like help out with the poor. And if that isn't your niche, why no volunteer at an animal shelter. Once the cages are clean, they let the volunteers play with the cats and dogs.

Tolerance means oppressing your opposition. Remember "enlightenment". That ended up with thousands of murders of priests, nuns and laity....how enlightened was that?
