Acknowledging abortion as a mortal sin, acknowledges the soul of the newly begotten. The Right to Life is the state’s acknowledgement of the human being’s free exercise of the human being’s will to live. In the Right to Life, the state acknowledges the human being’s immortal soul, engaged at conception and fertilization of the human egg by the human sperm. This, too, is wonderful news. Up until about 200 hundred years ago, men believed that the whole child was placed in the woman’s womb by her husband. This comes to understand the Biblical passage: “He made them male and female.”, in the economy of creation as necessary. And the state’s understanding of : “all men are created equal.”, not because of their bodies and the shape of their bodies, but because of their sovereign personhood, because men are made with an immortal human soul in the image of God.
