How Do American Home Schoolers Measure Up?

Quite well, thank you.

Once upon a time, all children were homeschooled. But around 150 years ago states started making public school mandatory and homeschooling eventually became illegal. It wasn't until the 90's that all states made it legal again. Today, with more than 2 million homeschoolers making up 4% of the school-aged population, it's the fastest growing form of education in the country.

Interesting statistics. Both of my sons were home schooled (totally). Both are now choosing to home school their own families. Both are in the $100,000+ income category with virtually no traditionally expensive university education.
People need to quit fearing the school system. Most concerned parents, if they put their minds to it, will succeed well beyond the 80 percent success range. And they will not have to deal with the horrendous US school system (most liberal immorality training in the country here in Oregon...).
Give it a try. You really won't hurt your children by taking upon yourself the basic education of your children, as the Church has always defended.
