A Plea for Mercy for Kermit Gosnell

I know I'm going to get heat for this one. Princeton professor Robert George writes at Mirror of Justice:

Abortionist Kermit Gosnell is facing the death penalty if he is convicted of the murders for which he is being tried in Philadelphia. Surely, the heinous acts of which he stands accused are depraved. George's thinking reflects the revisionist, abolitionist approach that JPII brought into the church, in direct conflict with Scripture and Tradition:

There's a reason why God demands capital punishment for murder in Genesis 9:5-6. Murder is the ultimate desecration of the divine image in humanity; execution is the only proportionate response.

Unfortunately, on this issue, a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of many Catholic intellectuals like George. Propagandistic sloganeering ("pro-life") has replaced moral clarity. God help the Catholic Church!

Before the state had atheism imposed upon all people who are citizens, the judge would say after sentencing a murderer to capital punishment:"...and may God have mercy on your immortal soul" to the condemned murderer. It is hard to speak with the tyrant's boot on the neck, mercy? Let Gosnell get it from the court that took mercy away from innocent people, took mercy away and like pearls before swine gave mercy as garbage to murderers. Men can give mercy. Hell hath no fury as that of a woman scorned
