ND and BC Theologians Undercut Bishops


In a story in the National Catholic Reporter, two theologians from Notre Dame and Boston College seem to undercut a number of bishops who have publicly stated that Catholics could not in good conscience vote for pro-abortion and pro-gay “marriage” candidates when alternatives are available. Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, Illinois, recently told Catholics in The Catholic Times that their salvation was in “serious jeopardy” should they vote for such a candidate. He pointed out the “intrinsic evils” in the Democratic Party’s pro-abortion and pro-gay “marriage” platform. He wrote that “a vote for a candidate who promotes actions or behaviors that are intrinsically evil and gravely sinful makes you morally complicit and places the eternal salvation of your own soul in serious jeopardy.”
