So the call to prayer and the mosques are so beautiful that he wants to chuck his lifelong faith and become Muslim?

Why not pray the liturgy of the hours, and donate his Hollywood cash to build more and more beautiful cathedrals/parishes? I mean, really, isn't that the same thing, in essence, of what he is admiring about his time in Turkey? Structure in prayer and architecture?

The externals are great, but he's really on board with the whole theology? Come on. You can admire everything beautiful about other religions, as there are elements of goodness and beauty in most of them, but when it comes down to brass tacks, you gotta step back and say "Where is truth?"

Dear Liam; See 2 John 9

Good luck with that after you throw-in with the Mahometans

Another "culture" Catholic. Does he even realize he will be denying Jesus Christ as the Son of God in order to follow a false prophet? Oh, but it "feels good"!

If I recall correctly, I think I read somewhere that he was married in the Episcopal Church so how many years has it been since he was a practicing Catholic?

It's so ironic - he doesn't seem to realize that he's standing in the former capital of the Holy Roman Empire, Constantinople, which didn't fall to the Ottomans and become Istanbul until the 15th century. Before Constantine it was known as Byzantium.

He also doesn't see that his religious longings would be fully answered by prayer and daily Catholic Mass in one of our many gorgeous churches. May I suggest the Byzantine rite?

Sad, foolish but not surprising.

Well if he lived near me he could hear the Catholic church in my neighborhood ring the Angelus 3 times a day. I love it. And it is Catholic.

And of course there is no one to stop anyone from praying the Angelus every time they hear a Muslim call to prayer, in fact it is highly to be recommended.

Why are many here bemoaning the exit of another Hollywood lib who just holds the wisdom of the Church as cheap anyway?

Doont let the wee door hit yer arse on the wey oot.

He may just be pulling the reporter's leg. At least I hope so. Seriously, the Church needs to tell more people about the liturgy of the hours and the Angelus. We Catholics certainly lost a lot of beauty and prayer post Vatican II.
