CNN on Porn: Smart People vs. Bible Folk

Terry Mattingly of Get Religion parses a CNN story:

It seems that the comments pages at the CNN religion blog have been on fire for several days — with good reason. That’s what happens when you publish a feature about Christians hooked on pornography and you top it with a photo of a man reading a copy of Playboy hidden inside his Bible.

That staged illustration didn’t freak me out, truth be told, although I must admit that I share many readers’ doubts that CNN would have run the same photo with a Playboy inside a Koran.

Pornography says that all men are not created in innocence and virginity. Pornography says that men are created in lust and violence.
The glorification and the proliferation of pornography as free speech, and the embrace of lust and violence instead of the condemnation of such evil, obliterates and obstructs the freedom to the pursuit of Happiness to which man is called as his destiny.
Science has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that any and all addiction restricts the freedom of free will in informed consent and free choice. The law forbids even the taking of cough syrup which invalidates a legal contract, before any decision is legally acceptable. Like addiction to narcotics and alcohol, addiction to lust and violence destroys the freedom of man to function freely.
Compare a man’s addiction to the love of Jesus Christ WHO is Love and Mercy and Freedom. Addiction to Freedom brings forth more freedom, a freedom upon which America is founded.
Pornography and the addiction to pornography destroys the freedom of man’s soul, the virginity, the innocence, the integrity and the virtue, the foundation upon which rests the establishment of our great nation.
