Why Catholics Don't Care About Gay Marriage

“Polls conducted between July 21 and Sept. 6 found that a plurality of Catholics -- 46 percent to 42 percent -- approved of allowing gays and lesbians to marry,” reports Catholic News Service. Sacramento Bishop Jaime Soto provided a clue as to why so many Catholics aren’t opposed to same sex marriage in a column earlier this month. Excerpt (emphases mine):

Another area where Catholics should do more reflection and cultivate new habits is in the sexual practice of marriage. One habit that has taken hold of many marriages is the use of artificial means of contraception.

One reason Catholics don't care is that priests like ours yesterday said that under no circumstances should we ever "discriminate" and "exclude" anybody. "People who are doing bad things are like children playing in the mud. They'll come in and get washed up eventually." That's wrong on so many levels, I can hardly start thinking of it. If Catholics aren't TAUGHT the truth, we won't know it.

I've lost count of how many people in my parish are divorced and remarried outside the church, and are merrily receiving communion like nothing ever happened.

It's tied together.

But you forgot to add the pastor knows and approves.......so does the bishop........and the Pope
knows it too but does not care enough to act on it.

Still we wonder..........?
