Nice story about the Sisters of Life in Toronto by the National Post.

The five women who make up the Toronto contingent of the Sisters of Life know their flowing blue-and-white habits are attention getters — especially given that most Catholic nuns in the past 40 years have chosen the anonymity of civilian clothes.

“People will come up and say, ‘Sister, thank you for wearing the habit. Thank you for not taking God off the street,’ ”
said Sister Maria Kateri Frazier, originally from Philadelphia, who opted for the religious life instead of medical school. “Others ask that we pray for them or simply want to ask who we are.”

You might be interested to know that when the Oprah Winfrey show was searching for a religious order to feature, of the many invited, only two orders accepted. One was the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, who were on last Tuesday. The other was the Sisters of Life.
